Voltron: Defender of the Universe Season 1 Episode 34

Things get a bit uncomfortable for the team as a proper suitor for Allura is discussed. It ends with the boys leaving to check the scanners, only to find Pidge's home planet of Balto is being barraged with nuclear missiles. The boys want to go off and help, but Coran has the palace guards block them. He's concerned that if they take the Lions away from Arus, that'll leave them too vulnerable to Zarkon. When the boys forcibly remove the palace guard, the Princess is stunned and makes one last plea for them to stay put. Despite Allura's pleas Keith leaves with the others, Allura left behind sobbing on the floor. As the Lions fly off, Coran even orders the palace to fire on the rogue pilots. All this doesn't go unnoticed by Zarkon, who dispatches a crew to cause trouble for the Lions. The devastation on Balto is complete. There seems to be little hope of finding any survivors but the boys land to inspect some city rubble anyway. They aren't there for long before Lotor's crew moves in and starts blasting. Allura comes to her senses and arrives in time to help the team form Voltron and defeat a Robeast. The victory seems hollow as Balto dies, blowing up before their eyes.
