The episode starts out with the "Space Explorers" (they're called that the entire episode, by every character.) coming to planet "Auth" or "Authra... or something that sounds a hell of a lot like Earth. The planet is "Earth" for the rest of this review. They're flying a reconnaissance mission to Earth... and they think something is going on! Earth is under attack! This is what they see from space. Yes, somehow they have super magnifier telescopes or something. Then they say they better go in and get a close up.
So, the group finally, after about 20 years, goes down into the atmosphere. And they're immediately captured by the slave ship's tractor beam. Cut to the Military Guys, who are never given names? "We must free the Space Explorers!" I guess they're the only Space Explorers these people have. I suppose that'd make them pretty important. Then go on and on about how it's hopeless. Then the white bearded Military Guy says. "If only Voltron were around. He could save them!"
So, the Slave Ship approaches Zarkon's planet. They clearly say they're APPROACHING the PLANET ... and lightning is going off around them.
