The death penalty in Texas, now that’s a controversial subject. This show mentions it many times. Alex is always taking about pushing for the death penalty in Texas and has gotten upset before when cases had to be tried out of Texas because there was no death penalty. With the number of cops and rangers that have been killed, it has also been told to a number of criminals that they were going to get electrocuted or get the gas chamber. So this episode brings up a good question about if an innocent person we ever tried and convicted. At least if they got life and were found innocent in the future they could be released but there is nothing that could be done if they are dead. Although Wilton was technically “innocent” as in he was not the killer. He wanted everyone to believe that he was guilty and even confessed, so I don’t blame Alex or the rangers. This was before forensics was advanced as it is now. If this case were on CSI they would have gotten the right man.
