Wanda is a truly funny lady. She is not yet in the Pryor or Rock league, but she's way ahead of most comics in terms of timing and material. She is particularly appealing to black audiences because so much of her humor is based on inside the black community humor. I can hardly wait for Wanda to really become edgy and take her humor beyond the safe places she keeps it now. Good lines, pointed in the right direction, aimed at the right people, but it still somewhat under wraps. Still, Wanda is a bundle of great laughs and she is growing rapidly. I'm looking forward to her late night stuff in December. I think she has the potential to be a female Chris Rock.
I haven't laughed this hard in years, and I didn't even see the entire show! I tuned in a bit late but I did catch most of it, and was some of the funniest comedy I have seen in a long time.
I often watch comedy shows, particularly stand up routines, because, while I like to laugh there are no sitcoms on TV that I find even remotely funny. So my replacement therapy is with comedy shows like this or The Daily Show and the like. More often than not with stand up performances though, you end up staring at a screen that seems to go blank with how un-funny it is.
But this kind of observational comedy slays me most every time, and when done with that self deprecating element to the routine, it also warms the cockles of your heart and makes you a new CFFL ("Comedy Friend for Life"!).
