Does anyone else think this is just going to be a remake of the X-Files but with more comedy (circa Reaper)? Because to me I can see it trying to be both shows and falling short on all counts.

It could very well be, I have also heard it compared to Friday13th show.

I do have a great deal of hope for this show, personally I am hoping it is based on Warehouse 23 (from Steve Jackson games a GURPS book)

If it is it could be a great show, but I try not to get my hopes up too much

I read an article about this series earlier today, it was the first I heard of it. I also get the feeling it will be something like X-Files. I just hope its a much better show. Of course, X-Files was good at the beginning of the series. I have never seen Reaper so I cant really compare it to it. I have high hopes for this series, though.

how about you just give it a chance instead of condemning it right away?

God i HATE people lately no one wants to watch anything remotely good anymore and shows like reaper, pushing daisies all die its not fair i love you america but its always your shows that get cancelled, here in britain if we like something it stays on theres a problem with your TV execs or viewing populace somewhere....

Me too, I hate people who criticize before giving a show any chance.
I'll check it out and then we'll see.

I dont know. You could compare most new sci fi shows to every sci fi show ever done. This almost sounds like a cross between xFiles and Supernatural to me... but what counts is the differences. So the 2 main actors are agents for the government. Doesn't mean it's XFiles. Xfiles was mainly about one mans pursuit of truth and aliens, which evolved over the years. This show may not be about aliens at all. So it's unfair to compare it to anything and give it a bad review.

I could compare any new show that might have some remote link to ghosts to 'Medium' or 'Supernatural'. Doesn't mean they are anything like it. In fact, I bet you could take EVERY SINGLE new show coming out on TV and find a show that is no longer on air, and compare it to it. New comedies are going to be compared to Seinfeld. New SciFis to Star Trek or X-Files. The only show out there that can not be compared to anything before it is Dexter. Lets just hope they dont try to make recreations of that.

With so few Sci Fi shows left on TV, I will give ANYTHING new a chance.

I wasn't expecting the X-Files undercurrent, but it is definitely there. Unfortunately, so are Friday the 13th, Eureka, The Lost Room, Sanctuary (artifacts instead of biological entities), and Reaper? I guess. I only watched a couple of episodes - life interferred. I'm sure comparisons could be made to a lot of other shows. I'm willing to give it a few episodes, but there is nothing original here.

Actually I see it as an innovative combo of "The Librarian", and X-Files with some "Finge" elements and being successful on all levels

I can't see how it's similar to Reaper. Is it 'cause "objects" (vessels) are involved on that show too? On this show, their interest is retrieving artifacts and not bad guys. I'd say it's more Fringe meets Eureka -- Fringe, 'cause of the characters (Walter vs. Artie, Myka vs. Olivia, Pete vs. Peter, etc.) and Eureka, 'cause they try to stop objects from causing any more damage to the place they're assigned to. Oh, and even though Fringe has more character background, their main characters' personalities are more dull and boring than the guys here.

I always thought of Warehouse 13 as X-Files meets Indiana Jones, to be honest, but I can see the Reaper similarities

No, the way I would describe it is....

Sanctuary, with items instead of creatures. + more comedy.

I would describe it as an enjoyable sci-fi/comedy with interesting characters and entertaining plotlines. Since any sci-fi show is going to have similarities to some previously existing show, I like to judge each ON THEIR OWN MERITS, rather than just prejudging them because I think it might go a certain way, or because some site said so. It is called thinking for yourself, and more of us need to do it.
