Trials was a superb episode of Warehouse 13 and I really enjoyed watching this episode because there was a lot of character development as well as growth. I thought it was great that Myka came back and I like how she had a narrative in the beggining and ending of the episode. Claudia goes on her first official mission with the new guy who ends up disclosing a personal secret. It was funny to see their interactions. The artifact stories were cool and very imaginative. I look forward to watching the next episode of Warehouse 13!!!!!!!moreless
  • Pete and Myka's enduring friendship wins out here.

    9.5
High rating because I'm enjoying the Pete and Myka friendship very much this season. Showing Pete's fear of being abandoned was a nice moment. Love how the artifact makes it even more telling with reducing him to the moment when the fear began with the lost of his father. Don't know where the writers are wanting to go with this relationship yet but I'm a little iffy on it going one way (romatically) or the other (platonic friends). Right now, I really would mind either way. Their friendship is sweet but a relationship might be even better. We'll see.moreless

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Myka: The world is such a scary place. The most innocent objects can cause destruction and mayhem. A person sees enough of that, and maybe they decide they don't want that much responsibility anymore. A person might think, walking away... okay, not a person. Me. I left. "Life or death" all the time, it was too much. But as a wise and also psychotic woman recently told me, you can't walk away from your truth. So I'm back. Am I ready? The "life or death" thing never goes away. The world is a scary place. First day back. I guess we'll see.

    • Claudia: Myka. Thanks Goddess. Leena and I were being outnumbered by Team Sausage Fest.

    • Claudia: We can go home now, poopy-pants. Ha. You've got a new nickname.
      Steve: I like "Jinksy."

    • Artie: Claudia, I did not come here to spy on you, not the way you think, anyway.
Claudia: Oh, sure. The good kind of spying. Like here, have some flowers, and a puppy, and some spying.

    • Myka: The world is such a scary place. Sometimes it seems like it's nothing but anger. And violence. And hurt. It can be terrifying when you're out there in it. But if you know where to look for it... the world also has warmth. And love. And forgiveness. The world has joy in it. When you find a place that allows you to experience that joy, when you find people that make you feel safe and loved, like you belong... you don't walk away from it. You fight for it.

    • Regent #2: And what about your relationship with Agent Lattimer? Are you able to move forward?
Myka: He's an extraordinary partner. Please don't tell him I said that.

  • NOTES (2)

  • ALLUSIONS (12)

    • Claudia: This is very Thomas Crown.
Referencing the 1999 movie The Thomas Crown Affair. Thomas Crown is a millionaire who engineers elaborate art thefts to relieve his boredom. The move is a partial remake of the 1968 movie of the same name, which revolved around an elaborate bank robbery scheme.

    • Pete: The Force will be with you always.
Referencing the words that Obi-Wan Kenobi (as a living being) says twice to Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977).

    • Pete: Also, release the Kraken.
Referencing the 1981 movie Clash of the Titans (1981) and its 2010 remake. In both of them, a Greek character dramatically declares "Release the Kraken!" In the original, Caiobos states it, while in the remake, it is Zeus that gives the command. The Kraken is a huge humanoid sea monster, which bears little resemblance to the traditional Norwegian creature of the same name, which is typically described as a squid-like monster.

    • Pete: This is Chinatown, Jake.
Referencing the last line of the 1974 movie Chinatown. The last line, spoken by Walsh as he keeps Jake Gittes from assaulting crooked cops, is actually "Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown."

    • Pete: Stay classy, San Diego.

Referencing the closing salute spoken by Ron Burgundy in the movie Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Ron closes out each of his broadcasts with the line to his viewers.

    • Pete: Pink is my signature color.

Referencing the line spoken by Shelby (Julia Roberts) in the 1989 movie Steel Magnolias. Shelby is referring to her excessive use for pink decor, prompting her mother to comment, "That sanctuary looks like it's been hosed down with Pepto-Bismol."

    • Pete: I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

Referencing the line from Apocalypse Now (1979) spoken by Kilgore: "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory."

    • Pete: I think we're gonna need a bigger boat.

Referencing Jaws (1975), when Chief Brody (Roy Scheider)gets a good look at the Great White Shark for the first time and realizes that they might be in over their heads. The actual line is "You're gonna need a bigger boat."

    • Pete: Yo, Adrian, I did it.

Referencing Rocky Balboa's victory speech in the 1979 movie Rocky II, after he has defeated Apollo Creed and is announcing that the win is the greatest moment of his life after the birth of his son.

    • Pete: Say goodnight to the bad guy.

Referencing the line spoken by Tony Montana (aka Scarface) in the 1983 movie Scarface. Montana is boasting that he's a bad guy and proud of it, and that nobody else has the guts to own up to what they are.

    • Claudia: I'm not Secret Service, or ATF, or NSA, or M-O-U-S-E.

Referencing the theme song of the 1955 series The Mickey Mouse Club, where everyone would spell out the name of their favorite Disney character, Mickey Mouse.

    • Claudia: Angela Lansbury, you've solved the mystery!
Referencing the long-running CBS murder series, Murder, She Wrote, with Angela Lansbury as elderly mystery writer and detective Jessica Fletcher, who tends to find murder victims wherever she goes and inevitably solves the crime.
