Warriors

Show Summary

Warriors is a historical documentary television series from The History Channel in which it explores the most famous warriors of all cultures and backgrounds ever to do battle. Terry Schappert, a Green Baret and 17-year of the US Special Forces, delves deep into the mindset, weaponry, tactics, and training of these elite and mysterious warriors to determine exactly what it took to dominate their opponents. Vikings, Spartans, Barbarians, Samurai, Special Forces--including their rituals, technology, and strategy are all explored. Each episode reenacts their most famous and climactic battles to assess each warriors strengths, weaknesses, leadership, and intelligence. To do this properly, Terry becomes fully immersed in each warrior culture by partaking in pre-battle rituals, initiations, and learning their intricate battle tactics. Warriors allows you to walk in the footsteps of history's greatest field generals, which at times is scary and gut-wrenching but a necessary journey to discover the heart of a warrior.

  • A good mix of military history and entertainment

    7.5
There is a lot of focus on the weapons used and we see the presenter try out modern recreations of those weapons and get a feel for what war must have been like for the opponents back then. If you are interested in the period or warfare in general its a pretty good programme which tries to mix military history and entertainment and gets the balance about right.
