    • TRIVIA (0)

    • QUOTES (1)

      • Lt. Commander Kiley (about Lescher): We still diverted 70 miles to get him.
Commander Nialls: Yes...with other Leanders tied up against the wall.
Lt. Commander Beaumont: Didn't he specifically ask for Hero?
Commander Nialls: Yes...heard about the food!

    • NOTES (1)

      • U-98, the submarine that Lescher allegedly commanded during the Second World War, actually served in the German navy for two years. After sunking 12 Allied ships over nine patrols, the U-boat was finally destroyed by depth charges from the HMS Wrestler west of Gibralter on November 15, 1942. All 46 crewmen were lost.

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • Commander Nialls: He was one of the greatest, evidentally...along with Prien and Kretschmer.
Nialls is referring to Gunther Prien and Otto Kretschmer, two very successful U-boat commanders of the Second World War. Prien sunk 30 Allied ships; Kretschmer sunk 46 Allied ships as the top U-boat ace of the war.
