Filming on the pilot began on March 24, 2009. There was quite an uproar in D.C. when it was erroneously rumored that an explosion would occur north of the Key Bridge and Jack's Boathouse under the Whitehurst Freeway on March 25. Josh Friedman, spokesman for the D.C. Film Office, explained it's a contained-pyrotechnic special effect and there will be absolutely no explosion, although it will look like an explosion for a brief second. He explained there's no physical force that's being outwardly exerted, it will last for two to three seconds, and there may be some smoke that lingers longer.
