Episode Summary

The Disease of Choice
I bet you know someone who is an alcoholic or addict. You may be the father, mother, daughter, brother, husband, wife, friend, colleague, or acquaintance of an addict. You may be one yourself. If you are, I salute your fight and commend your determination to beat your affliction. I lost my brother to alcoholism and I never understood (and I am continually on a quest to learn more about) the battle he fought each and every day of his life. His struggle was right in front of me; yet at the same time, a million miles away, and always the question lingered, "why?" Why do people become addicted? Is it a choice? Is it a disease? If an alcoholic chooses his destiny, do we deplore his choice to drink? If it's a disease, then do we lend a helping hand, and bestow our forgiveness? This video explores these questions.moreless
