CBS has axed this show without putting it on air, while I hardly know what this show is about.

Yes, CBS has shelved the project, they said it was too expensive and after the dismal return on Smith they decided not to go ahead with it. Check out what futoncritic said, http://www.thefutoncritic.com/rant.aspx?id=20060731

Also mentions other mid-season replacements like 3lbs with Stanley Tucci, they seem to be shifting gear to more medical dramas, with successes like House, ER, Scrubs, Greys Anatomy looks like this is the route they are taking. Oops Scrubs is a comedy but still medical series.

Like Showtime's "Brotherhood" the cancelled "Waterfront" was set in Providence and was to feature political corruption in that fair city (it really is a great town despite its history of mob criminality and at least one corrupt mayor). I was an extra during a couple of pilot scenes and was really bummed out by the abrupt cancellation. On the other hand, maybe a second series featuring the seamy side of the city would not have been a good thing!
