  • What a way to bring in the new term!!!

OH MY WORD.When I watched this episode of Waterloo Road I was stunned. Many shows take an episode or two to warm up and get back into a rythmn, but Waterloo Road jumped straight in,took the plunge and pulled it off brilliantly. After such a brilliant first series I was expecting this one to be a bit of a let down yet how wrong was I?

    So what has happened?

-Lorna didnt kill herself and is back working at the school.

-Izzie and Tom are engaged and Izzie is pregnant. They are both stunned with the arrival of Lorna, but Izzie is more welcoming than Tom.

-Jack Rimmer's contract is in review and has been rejected, leaving the head master's post empty and in the hands of Ahdrew until the post is filled.

-An ex-pupil plans to put a lot of money into the school to turn it into a new hip state of the art academy.

-Grantly quits after reaquainting himself with the ivestor and old pupil.

Now aren't we all looking forward to what is awaiting us with this season!!!moreless

Wow, Waterloo Road looks set to continue the great entertainment of the first series. This is a program that never lets me down - every single episode is of a consistently high standard. Anyway, I'll write some points below.

    1. Much as I hoped Lorna would disappear into thin air after series 1, her return looks like it could cause some good plot-lines - especially as I don't particularly want to watch a perfectly happy untroubled Izzie and Tom episode after episode. Instead, I'm enjoying new crazy Lorna, though I still don't like her character. She really reminds of of Blanche from 'A Streetcar Named Desire'; vulnerable but deluded, caught-up in an illusory world, unconfident and requirng constant attention. Lets see if she ends up getting carted away to a mental asylum!

    2. I'm being pleased by Lauren Drummond's performance as Mika. Last series mostly concentrated on Chloe Granger, but Lauren seems like a good young actress and I'm enjoying her scenes with Bret and that other girl - this looks set to be one of those realistic pupil story-lines.

    3. Bret is gorgeous - it's clear why he was cast! The character seems a little too perfect though - what dark secret is he hiding?

    4. Kim was being a little predictable this episode, with her anti-academy views...the return of Lewis next week will hopefully shake things up a bit. It's funny, because I too would have predicted she'd choose a vegetarian pizza! In terms of her and Andrew, it's clear everything will continue as before, with strong attraction on both side but politics coming in the way.

    5. I think this acadmey story-line is quite a relevant and current topic. I hope it's a series theme, rather than a one-off episode thing.

Overall, I really did enjoy the episode. It's such a realistic and brilliantly written series!moreless

    • Kim: Are you up for going out tonight? I'm meeting up with some mates, we're just going to go and have some pizza or something, just, thought you might wanna come along.
Andrew: It would be great, I love Italian food.
      Kim: Well it's just pizza.
      Andrew: (Frowns) Isn't that Italian?
Kim: Yeah, just don't bang on, yeah, 'cause they're just ordinary people.

    • Grantly: What's the point of being a teacher if some widget-making-ego-maniac's gonna come alone and tell us all what to do?

    • Andrew: So, off to meet our new sponsor governor then.
      Kim: God help us.
Andrew: It's great news, isn't it Kim?
Kim: What? What you think it's okay for someone to just go and buy a slice of the school? "Oh right well I'll take a couple of pound of teachers and a couple of bags of pupils". Can you not see how-
      Andrew: Forget I spoke.
