  • Webster accidentally starts a fire that destroys the family's apartment.

I saw this episode when it first aired at the age of 10 and it really scared me. I always feared I'd lose everything in a fire someday- and in 2003 it actually happened to me. I recently rewatched this and could relate to the feeling of losing everything you worked hard to have. The acting was top notch in this show which added to the feeling of fear and sympathy.

I often wonder how they achieved the effect of the apartment looking burned up- I mean it was filmed in a studio and I don't think they could just start a huge fire to destroy it. Maybe on the future DVD release, they'll have a behind the scenes on this episode or something.

To me, this was the best and most memorable episode. I remember not watching the show as often after this point because I didn't like the new house. I seemed to like the apartment better. Not only was this a good lesson for kids not to play with matches, but it was a dramatic and horrific plot handled well in the confines of a family sitcom.moreless
  • George gets Webster interested into this chemestry set.He sneaks the chemistry set in his room. He then builds a rocket, ties his teddy bear to it, lights the fuse, burns his hands, hides it and fuse relights and starts the fire that destroyed the apartmemoreless

You always tell your children never to play with matches, well this episode serves as a very good reason why kids should never touch matches. The results of children playing with matches can be very fatal and yes this episode can really scare a child to death but they can also get the message saying this will never be me.
