Nancy, after spending two and a half months in intensive care, has become more agreeable and has her eyes set on release but the doctors wont' let her until she manages to climb a flight of stairs all by herself. Silas, still in the mix of all things naughty, plays a dominatrix-type role to a woman we haven't met before and teaches her to "behave" while he's on the phone with her. Andy and Jill continue their sordid affair but her ex-husband shows up having found inner peace and forgiveness and according to her kids she always runs off from him and goes back when he crawls to her as he is stability for her. Andy panics at this and interrupts Jill's husbands proposal in the middle of an expensive dinner while he reads off a particularly blandly written apology/acceptance note to Jill. Andy signals to Jill that he is there and they end up having sex in the bathroom and her husband walks in and says that he wasted the last few months of his life learning inner peace and harmony and storms out. Shane makes headway in the investigation of "Whodunnit?" to Nancy and the episode ends with him looking at Scottson Jr.'s social networking page which is an indicator that he may start hunting him down now. Also Nancy's shakedown of the clown who sold expensive lollipop "product" and he doesn't know who she is connected to and tries to threaten her. But she makes him promise to always give product to ill people for free and regular charges to everyone else. Hope this starts to go somewhere cuz a it seems a lot like a limbo episode to show Nancy's new perspective although it was good to see Stevie again.
Not really one of the funnier episodes of Weeds in recent memory, but a show that really set the tone for the final season, brought out the tough and the emotional side of Nancy, and got us affirmed with the idea that this is going to be the final season of a great comedy.
There were some laughable moments, but frankly, I could do without so much of Nancy's sister.
A Beam of Sunshine was another perfectly entertaining episode of Weeds. I really enjoyed watching this episode because there was a ton of significant character development that makes me wish I didn't know this was the last season. Nancy has awoken and proceeds to dispense at the hospital. It was funny to see her bring the clown into her control. Shane's storyline is really taking off and it is great to see how he thinks. I also like the developments with Andy and Jill, though Andy seems to still be a rebound of somesort. I like how every thing played out. I certainly look forward to watching the next episode!!!!!!!!!
Weeds has changed a lot over the years, some of the later seasons were weaker but I think it's not gonna be the case with this one mainly because the writers know exactly what they're doing and what storylines they need to bring bag for closure. I'm surprised how relaxed Nancy is after those 77 days in the hospital (by the way who's gonna pay that $420,000 for medical care?). Her sons notice the changes about her as she tries to be a better person and doesn't want to take advantage of people anymore. She also wants the whole family to change as well. Jill's husband returns and begs her for a second chance but she doesn't care and wants to stay with Andy instead. And our brave little Shane found out who shot Nancy. Oh, one last thing! How hot was the S&M scene with Silas and Kiku (Kat Foster)? That lady is one piece of hotness. Plus the next week's preview looked juicy as hell. (7.5/10)
Some of the previous seasons kinda dragged along, but season 8 is starting out fresh. Good to see Nancy back on her feet again. Can't wait for the next episode! Will Nancy continues to shun the dark side of her previous life? Even Andy, the consummate screw-up is getting it all together. Will he blow it with Jill? How will Nancy pay her hospital bill? With intimidation maybe? Will Doug blow millions of dollars on hot young girls with lousy business plans? We want more Weeds! We want more Weeds! We want more Weeds!
