    Hey guys,

    Just wondering what this show is like? I've heard good things and will probably start watching it at sometime...

    Just wondering what shows it's similar to, and if it's worth a watch?

    Thanks.

    It appeals to 3 generations in my family. Since I refuse to subscribe to pay channels over an above my cable expanded, anything I want to watch from Showtime and the like, I rent from Netflix. Weeds can even be streamed there if you have an account. That is how I tried it and then decided to rent it for the whole family.

    I don't know what it's similar to, really, but it is really addicting. Maybe since it's a "serious" show with a lot of funny moments I could compare it to Rescue Me? I don't know, not really. The storyline is good, the characters are well thought out, the funny moments are REALLY funny, and the plot thickens more and more every season. I can't WAIT to see the next season. Actually, Californication is closer to it than Resue Me, but still different.

    I defo recommend watchin it. Its 1 of my fav shows 2 watch, altho its disappointin that they are short seasons and the eps are only like 30mins long each approx. The early seasons are better, i'd say the third season is the best so far. Give it a go, u'll prob like it

    Yeah, it's a good show. You should definitely check out the first three seasons, because they are hilarious, but after that the show weakens and becomes too serious. However, the first three seasons are awesome, so you should at least watch those.

    It's a terrific show if you only take into consideration the first 3 seasons...after that it kind of loses its way, and maybe I might be alone in this opinion but the last season was TERRIBLE. It's a good sign that a show is going down the toilet when they have to resort to a full T&A show to keep the ratings going, not to say that Marie-Louise Parker isn't awesome to watch...but still, I have no respect for any of the characters anymore.

    @deepgx

    I'm still bitter at how things changed after season 3! After the season 6 premiere, I'm just done with this crap.

    I am all for shows reinventing themselves, and I give them kudos for having the balls to pretty much start over after the 3rd season, but sorry where they took the show did not do it for me. Someone please poison Nancy Botwin's mocha shake late-frappuccino thing.

    This show USED to be good and it USED to be one of my favorite shows.

    However, I still recommend watch the show because the first two seasons were great. But somewhere down the line it lost its humor and wit. The characters are becoming more annoying by the episode, especially the main character. The storyline is not believable and too convenient to be taken seriously. That's just my opinion of the last few seasons but perhaps yours will differ.

    I'm with you on this. I used to laugh out loud during the first couple of seasons. I can't remember doing that in the last few seasons. I think I continue to watch this show in hopes that it will change for the better because it does have the potential to do so. But I'm not going to hold my breath on that.

    Also, another "similar" show would be Breaking Bad. Another poster in this thread said Weeds is a "serious" show...NOT at ALL. If you want a serious show, that's similar to Weeds, it is Breaking Bad. In fact, I HIGHLY recommend watching Breaking Bad over Weeds. Breaking Bad is consistent and always getting better. You feel more for the characters in the show, and it is well directed, well acted, and well written.

    The show definitely gets more serious as it goes on, but I disagree with the claims that it's worse. The tone changes, but it's a natural progression of Nancy's despicable character (which, as wicked as she is, is still fascinating to watch).

    Seasons 1-3 are pure gold with all the suburban stuff and Celia at her best. But season 4 is the worst one. 5-7 are better, but the show went downhill in the first few eps of season 4.
