  • Just Grow or Suit up for the Army

Andy is inducted into military service after his toes aren't taken as a handicap anymore, Nancy tries to liquidate all of her assets in order to pay back her debt to U Turn and Silas has a court date for his breaking of the law and everyone else much pitch in in order to help Nancy get back on her feet. Doug has been sleeping in his office after the fallout of his affair. Nancy also runs an errand for U Turn that involves going to a bar and Celia tries to spend time with Isabelle to bring her onto her side and have her as an asset to get her hands on her Huskaroo's modeling contract.moreless
  • An interesting episode, Andy and the military, Nancy and an honesty policy so that everyone knows whats happening. Nancy is trying to raise some money, in order to pay off her debt to u-turn.moreless

Andy tries to use his toes as an excuse, then his walking and then him being gay only to be told that the military has a unit for that too. So that was a nice twist, especially as its not a desk job but the full blown bootcamp effect.

Celia starts getting chummy with Isabelle, at least Celia is actually trying, but it was great to see that Isabelle didn't fall for any of it and called the social services on Celia. Then for the couple in the next room start making out, not to the amusement of the social services lady.

Nancy goes to do some jobs for U-Turn in order to pay off the debts. She ends up going to a mexican bar and having to do a brick dance, in order to get the package that is meant for U-Turn, eventually she ends up doing a brick dance on top of the pool table.

Peter's DEA partner turning up on the doorstep is a classic ending.moreless
  • Nancy tries to find money to pay of her debts.

Interesting episode with some nice twists. Andy joining the military, not for a desk job as promised but proper boot camp in preparation of Iraq was a surprise. I seriously doubt whether military discipline will work for him, he's more likely to get thrown out.

Celia's attempt to get close with Isabel, with the ulterior motive of getting her hands on her money backfires. It was surprising that she talked to the judge in favour of Silas though, very surprising. She probably want to be friendly again with Nancy, who at this moment does not feel like it, at all...

Nancy is jumping through hoops, figuratively, to do U-turn's bidding and pay off her debts. She even does a break dance on top of a pool table. Then to top it all off, one of Peter's DEA colleagues shows up at her door.moreless
  • wow - the truth...

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I think I was glad to see Nancy finally fess up to her family about her situation. (After sleeping for like twenty-two hours and then eating for like one of the first times in three seasons.) They have a right to know. And Celia trying to befriend her daughter to get at her money - just silly. But calling child protective services was a bit too much. Poor Andy - the army - even with missing toes. And I can't believe that Halia paid off Conrad's debt and left Nancy to suffer - that's harsh. Life is about to change big time.moreless
  • Nancy tries to raise money to pay off her debt. Andy finally gets called to the military.

This season of Weeds is definitely not disappointing. It is good to see Nancy finally having to pay some consequences for the choices that she has made in her life. While I originally understood her reason, she was greiving and felt as though she had no other offers. However, enough time has passed that she should be able to make some better choices for her family. I think last season she kinda forgot that while her little "empire" was growing she had kids to take care of at home. She was definitely absent in their lives and Andy was left to raise them, and we can all agree that while Andy is fun, and definitely cares about them, he should not be a substitute for a real parent! I loved when U-Turn told Nancy to get a job! I have been saying that for so long. I predict that the DEA agent that showed up at her house will eventually lead to her getting the money from Peter's life insurance since she sent in the marriage license last season, and that will be how she pays off her debt to U-Turn. The real question will then become what will she do after her debt is paid off!?moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Andy describes his guitar as a 1956 Les Paul, which would have a gold finish with white P90 single coil pickups. The guitar he shows has humbucking pickups (introduced in 1957) and a sunburst finish (introduced in 1958) which makes it a 1958-60 model. If it were genuine, it would be worth up to $20,000 rather than the $2000 he claims it would be worth on e-BAY.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Isabelle: There was a used condom in my bed.
Celia: That was not a condom.
      Isabelle: Then what was it?
      Celia: A plastic wrapper.
      Isabelle: With a reservoir tip?

    • Celia: Didn't you like getting manicures?
Isabelle: You wouldn't let me get the color I wanted.
Celia: Black is not a color.
Isabelle: Tell that to black people.
      Celia: I don't know any.

    • Doug: Judah was lousy at playing the market. I mean, a company that sells morning-after pills for dogs?
Nancy: You were the one advising him, Doug.
Doug: Okay, that one did not come from me. Clear dentures? Yeah, me. But he went rogue on ArfU 486.

    • Andy: I'm clearly not fit.
Sergeant Holbrook: You can walk, can't ya?
Andy: Not in lockstep, no. I tend to weave now.
      Sergeant Holbrook: Didn't notice.
Andy: I'll fail the drug test.
Sergeant Holbrook: We'll clean you up.
      Andy: I'm gay.
Sergeant Holbrook: We got a unit for that.

    • Nancy: I can only deal with one thing at a time. If I deal with one thing at a time, I'm less inclined to shoot myself in the head.
Doug: Oh don't do that your life insurance ran out a few weeks ago. (Nancy stares at him) I sent you an e-mail.

    • Nancy: I've got kids, I've got bills! How am I supposed to put food on my table? You keep upping my debt!
      U-Turn: Get a fucking job.

    • Nancy: (After she goes in a latin club) Hola. U-Turn sent me, I'm supposed to pick up a package. (The barman stares) U-Turn... para obtengo el paqueto... (Keeps staring) Any chance you speak french?

    • Nancy: Why aren't you dressed?
Doug: Dana threw me out of the house, I've been sleeping here, in the office.
      Nancy: She threw you out?
Doug Yeah, she found out that I was fucking Celia.
Nancy Celia?! Jesus, I'm repulsed. (Pause) Fascinated. I need to hear about this. Not now, definitely later.
