  • The Kotter's are visted by Gabe's too perfect friends from high-school.

Gabe's perfect friends from high-school make an unwelcome visit for dinner. Mr. Kotter let The Sweathogs know of his anxiety and reasoning for not wanting them to come to dinner. They of course show up at the dinner, as they sensed Mr. Kotter wanting to leave them for the good life that his friends had seemed to have found. It turns out Gabe's perfect friend Flannigan had actually envied Gabe, and his life as a teacher and a Sweathog. The highlight is when Horshack and Flannigan's wife Mary Francis make obnoxious laughs at each other.moreless

    • Arnold: (hearing Mary Frances laugh) She has the dumbest laugh I ever heard.

    • Lyle: Gabe, all through school I wanted to be a Sweathog, but dirt never stuck to me. I was... too perfect.
Mary Frances: It's lovely being perfect.
Lyle: It's boring being perfect. It's boring being rich. I have five boring bedrooms.
Mary Frances: Am I included in those five boring bedrooms?
Lyle: Mary Frances, no one has a headache for seven years!

    • (after Gabe gives Mary Frances a 'tour' of the apartment)
Mary Frances: Why, it's the most quaint and charming little apartment I've ever seen, isn't it, Ly-Ly? I can't imagine what we're doing with five bedrooms.
Gabe: I can't imagine what you guys are doing with one bedroom.

    • Gabe: I have a bad case of Lyle Flannigan.
Freddie: When did you first notice that something was wrong with your Flannigan?

    • Gabe: Lyle Flanigan was the nicest boy who ever went to Buchanan. He's so nice he would help old ladies cross their legs.
