What Matters is the HLN show where host Richelle Carey highlights stories that are important to the African-American community and beyond. HLN, formerly known as CNN Headline News, is a cable TV news channel which started in 1982 as a spinoff to CNN. The network focused on giving the viewer all the day's news in just 30 minutes, covering national, international, and pop culture stories. Richelle Carey joined HLN in 2006, coming from KMOV-TV in St. Louis, Missouri. Previously she was the morning and noon news anchor at Fox affiliate KVVU in Henderson-Las Vegas, Nevada. Richelle joined CNN in 2006 and is based in the network's world headquarters in Atlanta. Richelle now hosts What Matters, weekly segments that highlight top issues and stories that face the African-American community.
