  • Notes

    • (1) "WML?" SPONSOR WATCH: It's Stopette's turn this evening to be the main sponsor.
      (2) As is done from time to time, the "WML?" panelists are introduced counterclockwise. This means that Bennett is introduced first, and Dorothy, for the fifth time among those shows still in existence, introduces the Emmy-winning news analyst and panel moderator. In Dorothy's case, it is most likely the first time she introduces him as John Charles Daly, following in Bennett's footsteps in this regard.
      (3) "WHO CAN TAKE A SUNRISE...": Legendary all-around entertainer Sammy Davis, Jr. makes his first appearance on "WML?" this evening. He will make four more appearances on the program, the last being EPISODE #734 of October 11, 1964 which was his only turn as a guest panelist. Sammy, of course, went on to be one of the more famous of the "last-minute" mystery guests, on EPISODE #364 of May 26, 1957, after John vociferously vetoed a proposed mystery guest appearance by future "60 Minutes" inquisitor, then hosting an interview show bearing his name, Mike Wallace. Mr. Davis's nameplate on the panel moderator's desk for his spot tonight is set in the customary Title Gothic Condensed No. 11.
      (4) "WML?" CREDITS CRUNCH WATCH: Amazingly, the end credits cut off after the art card slide for coordinator of production Bob Bach and program manager Frances Trocaine, in another episode which plugged American Airlines as providing travel arrangements. Unsurprisingly, on the July 16, 2008 airing of this episode by GSN, the viewing audience was yet again made to suffer through the cable and satellite channel's woeful, wrenching and wretched habit of "crunching" the screen at that point.
      (5) Following the July 16, 2008 airing of tonight's show by GSN, the cable and satellite channel reran the August 20, 1952 edition of "The Name's the Same," hosted by Robert Q. Lewis, with the panel once again assembled as Abe Burrows, Joan Alexander and Bill Cullen, and the celebrity guest being Burgess Meredith. - W-B (2008)
