Aired Daily 12:00 AM May 29, 1955 on CBS

  • Notes

    • (1) "WML?" SPONSOR WATCH: After a month off, Remington electric shavers has resumed its place as main alternating sponsor this evening.
      (2) "SINCERELY...": Tonight marked the first appearance by the singing McGuire Sisters. Between now and EPISODE #711 of May 3, 1964, Christine, Dorothy and Phyllis will be mystery guests a total of five times, tying with Bob Hope in terms of total mystery guest appearances during "WML?'s" 17.5-year CBS run. Their nameplate on the panel moderator's desk reads "McGUIRE SISTERS," with the "c" in a slightly smaller size of type than the rest of the nameplate, which, as usual, is set in Title Gothic Condensed No. 11.
      (3) "WML?" CREDITS CRUNCH WATCH: Once again, the end credits managed to show the entire production crew, right on down to set designer Robert Rowe Paddock, in spite of the travel arrangements plug for American Airlines. And once again, GSN, on its July 27, 2008 airing of this episode, managed to get under the skin of its viewing audience with its creepy, crawly "crunching" of the screen during such sequence.
      (4) Immediately subsequent to the July 27, 2008 airing of tonight's show, GSN ran the November 19, 1952 edition of "The Name's the Same," with host Robert Q. Lewis. This time out, the panel consisted of Morey Amsterdam, Joan Alexander and Meredith Willson, and the celebrity guest was noted songwriter Hoagy Carmichael. - W-B (2008)

ANOTHER MARILYN MONROE: The first contestant on the November 19, 1952 episode of "The Name's the Same" was a woman from Chattanooga, Tennessee named Marilyn Monroe. Panelist Joan Alexander figured out her name and won the game. One of the questions Joan asked the guest was, "Are you relatively new to motion pictures?" Miss Monroe and Robert Q. Lewis agreed that the answer was yes. Indeed, this episode was originally broadcast in November 1952, before the premiere of "Gentleman Prefer Blondes." - stopettearoma (2008)
