LOST AND (MAYBE SOMEDAY) FOUND?: Imagine an episode of "The Honeymooners" coming back after decades of being lost. That's what happened in 1985 when Jackie Gleason released the kinescoped sections of his variety show. There was great fanfare and ceremony. Gleason passed away in 1987, but he had earlier stated that he planned on releasing the 1966-1970 Honeymooners shows so that, in his words, "Those girls won't have to worry about anything." He knew that he was dying and the money he would receive for his wife and family would take care of them for many years to come. It was a wonderful thought but he passed away before a deal was made. It was possible for him to release his vintage work because Gleason had saved all of his film work, including shows, guest appearances, kinescopes and videotapes. It is possible that he had ordered a copy of tonight's WML kinescope from CBS. If so, his film archives may contain this lost episode. - Stan16mm (2008)
