  • Notes

    • (1) "WML?" SPONSOR WATCH: This evening, the main sponsor is Helene Curtis.
      (2) WILLIAM BENDIX: This was the first of two guest panelist appearances by the "Life of Riley" star, out of a total of five appearances he made on "WML?"
      (3) NANETTE FABRAY: The famed entertainer makes the first of two "WML?" appearances this evening. From 1954 to 1956, Miss Fabray had been a regular on "Caesar's Hour," playing "Ann Victor" in a series of sketches called "The Victors." (In the final 1956-1957 season of "Caesar's Hour," Janet Blair had replaced Miss Fabray.) Nanette is also the aunt of actress Shelley Fabares, whose credits included the TV series "The Donna Reed Show," "The Little People" (later retitled "The Brian Keith Show"), "One Day at a Time," and "Coach." Shelley made no appearances on "WML?" during its 17.5-year CBS run, nor at any time in its 1968-1975 syndicated incarnation.
      (4) "WML?" CREDITS CRUNCH WATCH: After the American Airlines plug, the complete production crew credits were shown -- albeit in the usual (and monotonous) "crunched" fashion by GSN on its October 10, 2008 airing of this episode.
      (5) THE BEGINNINGS OF THE "ROGER PRICE ERA" ON "TNTS": Following GSN's October 10, 2008 airing of tonight's show, the cable and satellite channel reran the May 18, 1954 edition of "The Name's the Same," hosted by Robert Q. Lewis. This was the first appearance on the panel of Roger Price, co-owner of the Price/Stern/Sloan publishing house which was famous for not only "Droodles" but also "Mad Libs." Mr. Price would go on to be a full-time panelist within several months of this episode, and continuing to the end of the show's run in 1955; on his maiden appearance, he sat on the far end of the panel, alongside Bess Myerson, Gene Rayburn and Joan Alexander. The celebrity guest was Don Ameche, only three weeks after his future "Trading Places" co-star, Ralph Bellamy, appeared on "TNTS." - W-B (2008)
