    • TRIVIA (0)

    • QUOTES (2)

      • John Daly: Charles is here because he is going to star with Katherine Cornell in "There Shall Be No Night" on another network next Sunday night.
        Charles Boyer: Right.
John Daly: Can't mention the network, 'cause it's NBC and this is CBS, you see.

      • Dorothy Kilgallen: (explaining why she considers elephants "prickly") I rode one once for charity in Madison Square Garden and I tell you...
Arlene Francis: (interrupting) That's why they were prickly! (loud laughter)
John Daly: I can't dismiss this. I really shouldn't do it, but that one you rode forgot to get his Remington electric shaver.

    • NOTES (4)

      • FLIP REPORT: John flipped the remaining card for the final contestant at nine down because time ran out. Guest panelist James Michener opened a door when he asked if people came willingly to the place where this contestant worked, but the panel just didn't have any more time for this one. - agent_0042 (2008)

      • (1) "WML?" SPONSOR WATCH: For this evening's show, the honors of main sponsorship fall upon Helene Curtis.
        (2) "FEELS LIKE THE FIRST TIME": Tonight marked the first appearances of three individuals who will be on "WML?" again down the road. First is noted author and guest panelist James A. Michener, who will also appear in the latter capacity on EPISODE #491 of November 22, 1959. Next is the first mystery guest, White House Press Secretary James C. Hagerty, who will appear as a guest panelist on EPISODE #368 of June 23, 1957 -- and, late in 1960, succeed Mr. Daly as head of ABC News, following John's resignation from the network. (As a side note, John Cameron Swayze, who was a guest panelist on EPISODE #335 of November 4, 1956, succeeded Mr. Daly as ABC's evening news anchor at that point in 1960, for a very brief run.) Finally, actor Charles Boyer makes the first of four appearances, all as mystery guest, between now and EPISODE #688 of November 17, 1963.
        (3) "WML?" CREDITS CRUNCH WATCH: Following the travel arrangements plug for American Airlines, the end credits go up to the art card for crew members Bob Bach and Frances Trocaine before cutting off. Predictably, on GSN's October 26, 2008 airing of this episode, the cable and satellite channel imposed its recalcitrant and rancid "crunching" procedure on such a sequence.
        (4) The October 26, 2008 airing of tonight's show by GSN was followed by the December 20, 1954 edition of "The Name's the Same," hosted by Dennis James, with the panel consisting of Arnold Stang, Bess Myerson, Gene Rayburn and Joan Alexander, and Denise Darcel as the celebrity guest. - W-B (2008)

      • MYSTERY GUEST Charles Boyer promoted his upcoming NBC production of "There Shall Be No Night" in which he'll co-star with Katharine Cornell. Although not mentioned, the production was shown on "Hallmark Hall of Fame" and Boyer played the part of "Dr. Karoly Valkay." It was broadcast on March 17, 1957. - Suzanne (2005)

IT'S A BIRD, IT'S A PLANE: During the course of this episode, at least two airplanes can be heard flying overhead. One time occurs when Dorothy is questioning the elephant trainer in game two. At first you hear a low rumble and think it might be microphone feedback, but then the distinctive "propeller airplane" sound is apparent. - Suzanne (2005)

      • Tidbits: Dorothy announces that James Michener is having success with his best-selling book "South Pacific" and his new book "The Bridge at Andau." - Suzanne (2005)

        James Michener (2/3/1907 - 10/16/1997)

Panel: Dorothy Kilgallen, James Michener, Arlene Francis, Bennett Cerf.
