      • This was an interesting night as Dorothy and Bennett had to go it without Arlene, who was in Palm Beach, Florida performing in the play "Old Acquaintance." Ably filling in for her was Betty White. Also on the panel this night was Art Linkletter. Arlene's absence probably was felt as the panel did an okay job - but with some difficulty. In the first game, Dorothy made the last second save when she correctly guessed that the contestant was a lady truck driver. In the second game, the panel really had a lot of difficulty and was eventually stumped by the roller skate tester. In the mystery guest round, Betty correctly identified French actress Genevieve. She really wasn't on the show to promote anything, but the conversation did drift to her French accent as well as her leg. As the show was closing, each member of the panel wished Arlene good luck, and that was how the show ended. - Sargebri

      • It was interesting to see how Dorothy reacted to Genevieve's presence on the show this evening. Of course, as Bennett mentioned during the questioning, Genevieve was a regular performer on the "Tonight Show," which at the time was being hosted by Dolly Mae's second most famous sparring partner, Jack Paar. - Sargebri

      • Dorothy mentioned that Art Linkletter was visiting the East Coast as part of his work as the National Chairman of the Easter Seals drive. Art Linkletter is well-known for his work with kids and the Easter Seals helps kids (and adults too!) with disabilities. - agent_0042

      • (1) SHOW ANNOUNCER WATCH: This is the first episode on which Ralph Paul is the announcer. He will remain the predominant "WML?" announcer from this point in time until EPISODE #587 of November 5, 1961. Johnny Olson (who was first heard on EPISODE #550 and will be heard again on EPISODE #560) becomes the full-time announcer effective with EPISODE #588 of November 12, 1961.
        (2) BAD PUN ALERT: Bennett unleashes yet another groan-inducing pun with his assertion that John has his offices "on Lexicon Avenue."
        (3) As on the end of EPISODE #547, Bud Collyer's voice is heard promoting "To Tell the Truth" during the end credits. - W-B

      • Genevieve was a regular cast performer from 1958 to 1962 on the "The Jack Paar Show." Arlene Francis appeared on his show also. - Sargebri

      • Arlene Francis was absent due to the fact that she was in Palm Beach, Florida. The next day, her 1961 play "Old Acquaintance" was to open. The panel wished her "good luck" during the goodbyes. - Suzanne

      • Panel: Dorothy Kilgallen, Art Linkletter, Betty White, Bennett Cerf.
