What's My Line?

Season 13 Episode 15

Aired Daily 12:00 AM Dec 10, 1961 on CBS

  • Notes

    • During the post game chat with Sir Michael Redgrave, Bennett mentioned seeing Sir Michael's daughter during the Shakespeare Festival. However, Bennett didn't mention which of Sir Michael's daughters he saw. Of course, Sir Michael was the father of two actresses, both of whom would go on to have highly successful careers, Vanessa Redgrave and Lynn Redgrave. In fact, five years after this episode originally aired, Vanessa and Lynn would be competing against each other for the Best Actress Oscar; Vanessa for her work in the 1966 film "Morgan: A Suitable Case for Treatment" and Lynn for her role as the ugly duckling "Georgy Girl" in the 1966 film of the same name. Unfortunately for them, they both were beaten out by Elizabeth Taylor for her classic performance in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" However, Vanessa would take home an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in the film "Julia." Unfortunately, the celebration was marred by several protests, primarily by members of the Jewish Defense League, who were protesting the fact that she was a staunch supporter of the Palestinian Liberation Organization. - Sargebri
