    • REVIEW: After the great performance the previous week when they went 3 for 4, the panel went one better by scoring a perfecto. In fact, the most valuable player of the night was Bennett, who was about to head off to Bermuda for a well-deserved vacation. Besides making his rather bad puns, he either made the correct guess or played a very crucial role in three of the four games. In the first game, a mystery guest round, Dorothy correctly identified the recently crowned Miss Universe, Norma Nolan. Norma, who was Argentinean, was fluent in both Spanish and Italian, but did not know English. John nodded his head for "yes" and shook his head for "no" and Norma took his "hints" and thus answered the panel without being able to speak or understand any English. Overall, she was a very charming guest. In the second game, Bennett correctly guessed that the very charming Mrs. Corbett was a boat dealer. After the game, John mentioned the fact that Mrs. Corbett was actually former actress Rita LaRoy, who very often played the second lead in many films. However, Rita put it more bluntly when she said she was the girl that always wound up dead. Bennett also made the correct guess in the second mystery guest round when he correctly identified "The King of Swing" Benny Goodman. After the game, Benny discussed his recent trip to the Soviet Union and said that the Soviet people were very receptive to his music, even though their leader, Premier Nikita Khrushchev, wasn't. There also was a discussion about how American artists were not getting their royalties from any of their works that were either being shown or played in the USSR. Benny also took time to promote his upcoming show in New Haven at the Yale Bowl. The perfecto was completed when Arlene, after Bennett called a well-timed conference, correctly guessed that Mr. Soderberg was a soccer player. This definitely was a great sendoff for good old Bennett. - Sargebri (2006)

SOCCER: It is interesting to note that when Jens Soderberg appeared on the show, it happened to be the same year that another even more important set of soccer matches was taking place. Of course, that is in reference to the 1962 World Cup, which was played in Chile. The cup was won by Brazil, which featured the man who many have called the greatest player in the history of the game, the legendary Pele. - Sargebri (2006)

TONIGHT SHOW: As Rita LaRoy Corbett mentioned, Arlene was still in the middle of her stint as temporary hostess of the "Tonight Show." Of course, this was still in the middle of the transition period between the Jack Paar and Johnny Carson eras. - Sargebri (2006)

KILGALLEN WATCH!!! Once again, Dolly Mae seems to have had a little cocktail before appearing on the show this evening. However, she still managed to make the correct guess on Norma Nolan, but it soon became apparent that she was somewhat intoxicated by her slurred speech and her tendency to ramble. Unfortunately, her problem would continue to worsen and would culminate with her return to the LeRoy Sanitarium in March 1963. - Sargebri (2006)
