      • (1) GUEST PANELIST: Tonight's long-lost show marked the only appearance on "WML?" of noted playwright Moss Hart, in an episode that, like most 1950-1952 editions, is tragically lost to history. However, his wife, actress/singer Kitty Carlisle, will make somewhat more of an impact on "WML?," as between EPISODE #657 of March 31, 1963 and EPISODE #840 of December 11, 1966 Miss Carlisle will appear five times, four as a guest panelist and once as a mystery guest. Of those guest panelist appearances, her fourth and final run was on EPISODE #790 of November 14, 1965, the first show after Dorothy Kilgallen's tragic death. Of course, Kitty would go on to become synonymous with another successful Goodson-Todman panel show, "To Tell the Truth," first appearing in 1957 and remaining on the program over a span of five decades, the last being a single 2000 appearance in the 2000-2002 version.
        (2) Moss Hart was by no means the last one-shot "WML?" guest panelist whose wife made more appearances on the program. On EPISODE #510 of April 24, 1960, songwriter and performer Adolph Green made his first and last appearance as a guest panelist (though he would make one more appearance, on EPISODE #867 of July 2, 1967, as part of a mystery guest duo with his collaborator and performing partner Betty Comden). But Mr. Green's wife, actress/singer Phyllis Newman, would make a far greater impression -- and impact -- on "WML?," first appearing on EPISODE #650 of February 3, 1963 and making a total of 34 appearances over the rest of the show's run on CBS, her last on the network version being the penultimate EPISODE #875 of August 27, 1967.
        (3) MYSTERY GUEST: Tonight's now-lost episode also marked the first and last appearance of British-born actress Madeleine Carroll (1906-1987), who was in such films as the original 1935 version of "The 39 Steps," the 1937 version of "The Prisoner of Zenda," and the 1942 Bob Hope vehicle "My Favorite Blonde." A few months prior to her appearance tonight, on September 9, 1951, Miss Carroll appeared in an episode of the "Philco Television Playhouse" called "Women of Intrigue." Her last acting role was as "Nurse Johansen" in an episode of the "General Electric Theatre" entitled "The Bitter Choice" which aired on March 20, 1955. - W-B (2008)

      • Per Gil Fates' handwritten logs, no kinescope of this episode exists. It was destroyed by CBS before Gil Fates noticed the destruction policy in 1952 and began saving the kinescopes. Only about 10 episodes exist from February 1950 to July 1952. - Suzanne (2004)

        Moss Hart (10/24/1904 - 12/20/1961)

Panel: Dorothy Kilgallen, Moss Hart, Arlene Francis, Hal Block. Bennett Cerf had the night off.
