What's My Line?

Season 17 Episode 29

Aired Daily 12:00 AM Mar 20, 1966 on CBS

  • Notes

    • This episode produces yet another "WML Rookie of the Year" candidate. Dr. Joyce Brothers put in a great debut performance on the panel this evening. She not only opened the door on the first contestants, she tore it off its hinges! Only Suzy Knickerbocker did better than Brothers, who also helped narrow down the occupation of the second contestant. Carol Burnett had one of the most memorable performances by a mystery guest in a long time. Her reaction to Tony's question was one of the funniest moments in the show's history. Carol was on the show to promote her upcoming special with Lucille Ball and Zero Mostel. A year after this special aired, Carol would begin her own 1967-1978 variety hour, "The Carol Burnett Show," which would become a classic. Also, during the good nights, John mentioned Tony's trip to Milwaukee on behalf of VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America). VISTA was the domestic version of the Peace Corps and was the forerunner of such programs as Habitat for Humanity. It still exists today, as part of AmeriCorps. All in all, the panel had an exceptional performance this particular evening. - Sargebri (2004)
