What's My Line?

Season 18 Episode 26

Aired Daily 12:00 AM Feb 26, 1967 on CBS

  • Notes

    • The panel really was great tonight, especially Arlene and Phyllis. Arlene got the first contestant, especially after Phyllis and Bennett opened the doors wide open for her. John and Bennett both paid tribute to the young trapeze man by praising his polite manners and his mature attitude for a boy of nine. Phyllis then identified the second contestant who sold hay. Bennett, for some inexplicable reason, had chickened out and had passed to Arlene, even after he had narrowed the product line down to "hay or oats." He probably was just being kind, and wanted to give the other panelists a chance to ask a question or two. Up until he passed, he had been the sole questioner. Phyllis was also funny tonight, because on about three occasions she stuttered and tripped over her own words. Allen and Rossi naturally stole the show! They set the dial for "laughs" the way Steve signed the blackboard and the way Marty walked on stage wearing a ladies hat and carrying a handbag. Marty got laughs when he said that a lady had called him a "walking Brillo pad." John put it well when he called them "a couple of nuts." All kidding aside, Marty took time to pay tribute to the man who brought him and Steve together, the late, great Nat "King" Cole. Also of note, this would be the final appearance for the boys on the show. However, as was stated earlier, no mention was ever made of the show's impending demise. The panel probably wanted to keep it business as usual until the bitter end. - Sargebri (2004)
