    • (1) LAST "LOST" EPISODE: This is the 16th and final post-1952 episode (following executive producer Gil Fates' calling a halt to CBS's destruction of "WML?" kinescopes in July 1952) whose kinescope recording has been lost to history. Of this total, five were from the 1966-1967 season alone. In an interesting coincidence, the number of last-season shows that no longer exist, five, equal the number of preemptions, five, in this final CBS season of "WML?" From 1950 to July 1952, about 100 episodes were lost to history.
      (2) MYSTERY GUEST: This was movie legend Lauren Bacall's third and final appearance on CBS "WML?," and she did not make any appearances on the syndicated series. Her previous two appearances, on EPISODE #180 of November 8, 1953 and EPISODE #795 of December 19, 1965, were far more fortunate in the preservation department, and kinescopes exist of those earlier appearances. Aside from her film, stage and TV work in the decades to come, beginning in the 1970's and continuing for years thereafter, Miss Bacall will become the commercial spokesperson for the New York-based, high-end Fortunoff department store. Her closing line, "Fortunoff -- the source," is considered among the legendary advertising catchprases of all time, whether national or local.
      (3) Since this episode was aired live immediately after the taping of the prerecorded next-to-last CBS "WML?" EPISODE #875 of August 27, 1967, we see the exact same panel lineup on both episodes. - W-B (2008)

    • In Gil Fates' 1978 WML book, in Appendix A of mystery guests, Carl Reiner is incorrectly listed as a mystery guest for this episode. He did, however, appear as a mystery guest on the syndicated WML on an episode which was taped on November 29, 1973. - Suzanne (2004)

This is Gene Rayburn's first appearance as a guest panelist. - Suzanne (2004)

Immediately prior to tonight's live broadcast, the future EPISODE #875 of August 27, 1967 was taped for airing in several weeks. - Suzanne (2004)

Per Gil Fates' handwritten logs, no kinescope of this episode exists. It has been missing since 1967. - Suzanne (2004)

    • CANCELLATION WATCH - This episode is the next-to-last "live" in-theatre telecast. The last "live" telecast is the show finale on September 3, 1967. The other five remaining episodes have all been prerecorded. However, the cast knew of the impending cancellation at the time the remaining five episodes were prerecorded. They had learned the fateful news on February 14, 1967, in an article printed in the New York Times newspaper. - Suzanne (2004)

    • Gene Rayburn (12/22/1917 - 11/29/1999)

Panel: Arlene Francis, Gene Rayburn, Phyllis Newman, Bennett Cerf.
