In Sacramento Comcast is moving GSN from Expanded Basic Cable (Ch. 47) to Digital Cable (Ch. 161) as of the 12th of December. The rationale is to make room for more High Def channels. This does not auger well for GSN's ratings; many fewer subscribers will have access.

Is this happening generally or only in Northern California?

Or alternatively, is Comcast in other states thinking about doing something similar to GSN as what they're doing in your area? I know that as of this time, where I live in New York, there was a recent reshuffling of some cable channels on the Time Warner system - but GSN has stayed put.

I searched the GSN forums and found a 2-page thread about the same thing:

The same thing has been happening to others, too.
