On viewing and taping last night's WML (2/16/50) the show content came out to only 23 minutes--the excellent show summary--on tv.com-- lists a fourth game (Karen Archer) that was not shown last night... Maybe it was a DISH network thing (they have sometimes cut the first 30 seconds of a mystery guest segment to run an extra ad)--but I was wondering if others noticed that as well... Thanks...

I have Directv. I checked my Tivo recording and Karen Archer was absent for me as well. I checked my DVD recording from the last time it was broadcast (in 2004) and the episode is complete. GSN must have cut it this time. Not a good precedent.

For this 2008 GSN airing, mine (on DishNetwork) was missing the 4th game too.

On checking my 2004 recording, the timing, with the commercials already edited out, is 28:28, so that's what happened, so somebody (either GSN or the provider) could add more commercials.

I wonder if that happened because WML is now the first show of B/W overnight and in 2004 it was the second show. GSN could probably run the show a little longer in 2004 since then WML was the last show on GSN's schedule. Since the earliest WML programs did not have a sponsore their running time is much longer than the regular programs once WML became a spnsored show.

We should probably get something about this into the guide.

There were NO "commercials" during the original telecast of the first edition of "WHAT'S MY LINE?" in February 1950- it was "sustained" by CBS {they hadn't sold the show to an advertiser as yet}, and there was at least one "public service announcement" or "network promo" during that episode. That is what GSN would have omitted in favor of their own commercial(s). The show originally ran for 29:30 {with a CBS network I.D. at the end}....

Oh, GSN airs plenty of its own public service announcements during that time since they can't always get advertising. Anyone fed the pig lately, or made their donation to the Himalayan Foundation?

It did take me a while, but I did check this out myself, and yes, the 2008 showing by GSN does pick up the show right after the fourth contestants exit from the stage (right as John congrats the panel). What I did notice during the segment that was missing (from viewing the 2004 showing) was that Arlene is spotted at least twice puffing on a cigarette, and other times you can see the smoke rise up in front of her and Gov. Hoffman seated next to her. I doubt this had anything to do with it, since almost all of the IGAS eps. that GSN is showing now has Garry Moore and/or Henry Morgan lighting up and puffing away.
