The late George Carlin made an apperence on the Syndicated version of What's my Line? Many of the people of later era of Carlin may not expect this type of performance from him.

Would anyone be able to point me in the direction of a file of the 1962 episode with the Water Salesman?

    Thanks

No worries. "The people of later era of Carlin?" People who have seen his monologue about God being a total failure on the premiere telecast of Saturday Night Live know about that paving the way for outrageousness on network TV and national syndication. They know there was nothing like it in the Deep South and other TV markets prior to October 11 / 12, 1975.

And they know George Carlin needed a gig in 1969. Like any American entertainer in any era, he had to conform to the status quo in show business in order to get work. In 1969 you had to watch what you said about God on nationwide TV, and that included syndicated shows. Local New York TV might have allowed more, but that's hard to establish because so many local broadcasts were destroyed.

Do you mean EPISODE #786 of October 17, 1965? The second guest was Jack Premo - "Sells Water." If so, you'd then search YouTube for episodes with that night's mystery guest, Oscar Levant. I checked, but I don't see any.

Here's the Homer & Jethro commercial that was on GSN's copy of Episode #661, unfortunatly missing the part with the contest and cornyphones. So just imagine...we've wrapped up two professions, John says, "We'll meet our Mystery Challenger after these words from Kellogg's"....and then ....
