Greg: Excuse me, Chief. I don't mean to bother you, but, uh, (pulls out a gift) well, I have a little somethin' for ya.
Chief: Oh, you remembered. How sweet.
Greg: Well, you know, Chief, it's a little hard, you know to forget the first time I ever met you. I mean...
(he thinks back meeting the Chief for the first time, dressed as a punkster)
Greg: (in a fake Australian punk accent) Right! This ACME Crime Net?
Chief: Yes.
Greg: I got a package for you. It's a new "Best of the Bee Gees" album. Right!
Chief: Oh, fabulous.
Greg: I hate the Bee Gees. Right!
Chief: Oh, well, what kind of music do you like?
Greg: Right! I got me own punk band, right? With 4 other guys. And we play loud music and sometimes, we would take a box of 64 crayons and crush 'em for no reason! Right?! That's the kinda music I love!
Chief: And you make a living doing this?
Greg: No! Why do you think I'm deliverin' packages?
Chief: Oh! I need somebody to help me fight crime. You want the job?
Greg: All right. What I gonna do?
Chief: (hands Greg a piece of paper) Oh, well, first of all, all you have to do is read this to the Gumshoes at home.
Greg: Right! Everyday, we'll watch--
Chief: No, no. Softer, softer. Every time you watch the show, write down what got stolen and from where. When you've collected 4 loots and locations, write them down on a postcard with your name and address, and send them to ACME Crime Net, Box 4300, New York, NY 10163.
Greg: Every day, we'll pick 5 people whose lists are correct and send 'em a Carmen T-Shirt. Here's today's winners.
(the contest winners are revealed)
Greg: Congratulations to our winners!
Chief: Oh! Oh, now, that was very, very nice! You've got the job. And one more thing. Could you lose the fake accent? You do it so badly.
Greg: (normal voice) Oh, okay. No problem. I was wondering-- Is it possible that you can a job for the other 4 guys in my band?
Chief: Oh, no, I don't think so. I don't like punk music.
Greg: Oh, but listen. They sing pretty good a capella.
Chief: Oh! Oh, all right. (hands Greg a hat and jacket and shakes hands with him) Well, then, bring them by!
Greg: Thanks a lot!
(flashback ends)
Greg: Oh, boy, that brings back a lotta memories, huh?
Chief: Well, are you glad you came to work with me?
Greg: Oh, Chief, I wouldn't have missed it for the world!
Greg and the Chief: (imitate heavy metal rock stars) RIGHT!! GO AWAY!!
(Greg leaves the office)
Greg: You know, I am so much more mature now than I was... back... then.
(pulls out gum and sticks it on the camera)
Grunge: This jail cell is awful! No matter where I stand, I'm never more than 12 feet away from the soap. (coughs) And it's all Carmen's fault! Go get her in North America. (coughs)
Due to the addition of the contest, Greg now announces the grand-prize at the start of the show.
The USA map is now expanded to all of North America. However, this is the first episode in which a Gumshoe actually tracks, and even captures, Carmen Sandiego on this new Map. Also, new to the Map are squares, representing national parks and monuments, and arrows, representing bodies of water. They'll also be carried over to South America and Asia.
Barry Carl now tells about the Gumshoes' interests as he introduces them instead of the Gumshoes doing so themselves, and thus, an extra clue sketch is performed after the Phone Tap. This is also to make room for longer clue sketches.
Greg is now addressed as ACME Senior Agent instead of Special Agent.
The ACME Photo Recon slideshow is now done via the Jailtime Challenge board with Greg inserting a mini-monitor with the Chief into the side (this season and next season only) and hitting a button to transform into a big television screen. Once the slideshow is done, a five minute stop down was used; during this, the TV screen slides off to the left side of the board to reveal the trilions.
During this season and next season, as the Chief, Greg, and the Gumshoes travel to the final location, an old clip of transportation is shown as a pretender of how they travel.
Throughout this season at the end of the Jailtime Challenge, Rockapella say a different phrase in each episode instead of "You've won!" before their fanfare, but they do return to saying that for the last two seasons.

The trilons in the Jailtime Challenge now rotate backwards rather than forwards as its content is revealed.
Due to geographical changes, this was the first episode to have a different bridge... "She go from Nashville to Norway..." was changed to "Botswana to Thailand..." from this point on. The 'Nashville' bridge ended with 'Czechoslovakia and back', and that country was divided into the Czech Republic and Slovakia on January 1, 1993, shortly after season two finished airing on PBS. This is the only permanent bridge change that occurred in all 295 episodes other than the one time the full version was played. And to this day when Rockapella or the Groovebarbers (Sean Altman's group) perform this song live, they now say "Czech AND/OR Slovakia and back" at the end of the third bridge (The "Botswana to Thailand" bridge is used toward the end of the full song).
