    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • Comedian Steve Punt (later of The Mary Whitehouse Experience) can be briefly spotted sitting in the audience prior to the "Story Time" segment (laughing) and the first "Film and Theatre Styles" segment with John and Jonathan (rubbing his nose).

    • QUOTES (5)

      • (in Party Quirks)
John: (bent over) I've lost a house, it wouldn't be up there, would it?
Paul: There's a cassette recorder, is that yours?

      • (in Interview)
Archie: You were handed 25 commandments, what happened to the other 15?
John: Well, there were the basic things, you know, like 'Never wearing green and gray.'

      • (in Props)
Archie: Oh, yes, we had to remove your stomach, you had a rather bad ulcer.
Jonathan: You didn't have to take everything!

      • (in F&TS)
Archie: I'd, uh, like to see something in a casket.
Paul: Um, what would you like to see? I could put a tin of cling peaches in a casket...

      • Clive: (introducing the contestants) Archie Hahn, for my money the best American import since Chicken McNuggets. Then from the legitimate theatre, we have Jonathan Pryce, regarded by many as the Sybil Thorndike of his generation. From the illegitimate theatre we have Paul Merton of the Comedy Store Players, a man of a thousand voice. And John Sessions, regarded as a human chameleon because of his many characterisations, the fact that he can change colour at will, and the fact that he eats flies.
