Episode Summary

Whose Line returns with new games, new performers and a new host. In the premiere, The Walking Dead's Lauren Cohen helps Ryan fight zombies(and kick Wayne in the chest) and becomes props like a toboggan and a hang glider. Also joining the fun is Gary Anthony Williams.

  • The Boys Are Back!

The return of Whose Line did not disappoint. Colin, Ryan and Wayne picked up right where they left off. Newcomer Gary Anthony Williams had a lot of food jokes. Walking Dead star Lauren Cohan got into the act by kicking zombie Wayne and being a hang glider for Ryan. The new game What's In The Bag? got personal with two audience members as Ryan and Colin used their contents to investigate Wayne's getting beat up. His line about being a 'part-time woman' was reminiscent of some of his previous male/female characters. A very good return for the show.moreless
  • Fantastic

Everything about the renewed series is almost perfect. I've been a very big fan of the series since I was a little girl (was probably 10 or 11 when I began watching it). It's classic but it's new. The jokes don't seem stale and there are plenty of moments for old-timers and new fans alike. As a random example, Ryan Styles takes out chapstick and discreetly applies it to his lips when Colin Mochrie starts kissing people (he knew he was next).

My one and only qualm so far is Aisha Tyler. I have nothing against her; in fact, I know very little about her. She has some moments that are funny, but the way she projects herself, you can definitely tell she's still a bit nervous. She opens the show and explains each game methodically, like she's reading directly from the script. There is no chemistry between her and the comedians on stage, but it's hard to count that as a fault, since Drew Carey had the luxury of working with Colin, Ryan and Wayne for many, many years (Ryan more than others, because of the Drew Carey Show).

Given time, I'm sure Tyler will find her groove within the show. It still feels like there is a chunk missing from the show (pun intended), because the fake points rewards aren't funny, and with Tyler holding the reins the show isn't making fun of itself like it used to (which was half the hilarity).

Laura and Cindy were fantastic, as always. I was laughing almost non-stop from the antics. The 'Scenes From A Hat' didn't seem like suggestions from the audience anymore, but rather something the writers created, but I'll let it slide. It was fantastic overall, and I'm looking forward to see it in full swing.moreless
  • old but still awesome

I tried my best to go into the first episode with no expectations. I was such a fan of the original series, that I did not want to ruin it. I was not disappointed.
