  • Take one military type mom and switch her with a peace activist mom, and there you have a great example of Wife Swap.

I love Wife Swap episodes when the families change for the better during and after the swap. I really liked these two families. The Patricks were very liberal, anti-war, anti-Bush. They had two teenage sons. They believed that everyone should share in the chores of the house. Great idea, but the problem with that was that not all the chores got done. There didn't seem to be any semblance of discipline with the two Patrick boys. On the other hand, the Leierwood family were very conservative, former military, and very pro-Bush. The Leierwoods were religious, and there was order and discipline in this house. Mom-Sherry believed that the wife should do all the chores in the house, that the husband is the head of the house. The Patricks had a teenage son, Dan, who was a jerk. He believed that others should listen to other people's points of view, but it seemed that this was so only if they agreed with him. He was cruel and totally disrepectful in the way he spoke to Sherry. By the end of the show Sherry Leierwood realized that she did not have to be the perfect wife and mother. She didn't feel that she had to do everything, and she wasn't afraid to ask for help.Husband Ryan cut his work hours in half, so that he could spend more time with his wife and children. Dan Patrick was somewhat more mellow in the way he treated others. Neither family had been convinced of the other families' political beliefs, but both sides respected the others' opinions.moreless
