Wild At Heart

Show Summary

Wild at Heart is a television drama series about a Bristol-based vet and his family emigrating to start a game park in South Africa. The Trevanions are newlyweds who fell in love after Danny (Stephen Tompkinson, Brassed Off, Ballykissangel) lost his first wife to cancer and Sarah (Amanda Holden, The Grimleys) lost hers "to a nineteen-year-old." But all is not well in the new household. Trouble simmers between Sarah and stepdaughter Rosie, still hurting from her mother's death. Danny, a suburban vet, has a better way with animals than he does with stepson Evan. And Sarah's daughter Olivia, the peacemaking third child, insists on calling Danny "Mr. Trevanion." Tired of treating pampered pets and seeking escape from domestic woes, Danny takes the family on a trip to Africa. Vacation turns to vocation, however, when they decide to restore a rundown game reserve deep in the African bush. As the Trevanions help the wild animals around them, they begin to heal their own wounds as well.

  • A little different than other Africa based stories

So far, I've only seen one season and have read about the other episodes. I am looking forward to seeing more. What I like is that the show has a very strong human element and it's not all about the animals. Everyone seems to be like and behave like real people with real problems and solutions. I even like the way the surrounding towns and villages are portrayed, though, so far as I have watched, they have glossed over the more serious political issues. Life on the farm is not all sugar-coated, though most of the time things seem to work out in the end.moreless
