  • Deeply emotional episode

    9.5
I love it when a show can deny it's own expectations and tell a story completely outside of it's genre. Resistance is a emotional story that feels like it comes from a very real place. This certainly wasn't a buddy comedy episode, or a crazy character driven drama. It felt like the layers of goofiness and pretention that normally (entertainingly) fill the show, were stripped away to tell an impactful story of Ryan and his dog Wilfred. At times I got upset, laughed, and eventually came to terms with the events that occurred. The entire episode felt like a series finale, so glad there's one more adventure with Wilfred remaining!!moreless
  • I understand why this was done, but I didn't care for it

    5.5
The series has been going on for four years, so it's understandable that as it ends the show's makers wanted to express their emotions with a bunch of sad stuff. But it doesn't really fit with what's gone on the last four years. Also, as they got into all the sturm and drang, I realized that I never really cared much about these people. I thought the show was brilliantly funny and I enjoyed its mind games, but my emotional attachment has always been pretty weak. So all the sadness just seemed like a distraction.moreless
