  • Trivia

  • Quotes

    • Karen: (to Liz after she tells Karen to leave and pay her half of the rent) True or false? I own this building!
      Liz: W-what?
Karen: True! (laughs) And I don't think I want you living here any more.
Liz: But we're roommates! Friends! Lovers! I'll take that Frenchie now!

    • Liz: Wait, you're not Kurt!
Karen: You're not Kurt either! Now look what you've done.
Liz: Me?! You scared him off with your big boobies and your weird bisexual vibe. He was into me!

    • Karen: God, this is great. Casual sex, mookie bartenders, dirty futons... This is the stuff of life. I'm gonna get an STD tonight!

    • Grace: Wow, okay what's happening on your feet?
      Will: What?
Jack: I think she's talking about your shoes, Heidi.
Will: What? They're clogs. They're good for your back.
Grace: They're good for the back of your closet.

    • Grace: Ooh, crack whores are sneaky.

    • Will: (to Grace) Have you ever watched King of Queens? It's funny sometimes! But I don't believe that she'd stay with him. Or do I? Well, I don't have to decide this right now.

    • Karen: What is this place? It's pretty! Where are the fish?
Jack: No, Karen. It is a laundromat. People come here to clean their clothes. Then they re-use them!
Karen: Why, poor people are just plain clever. I wonder why they can't figure out a way to make more money!
Grace: You've never been to a laundromat before? Why am I surprised? Last week at the post office she kept tapping on the window and feeding peanuts to the clerk.
Karen (Looking at a notice board): There's so much real life I've never experienced. Sectional sofas for sale, missing cats, Battered Women's shelters. FUN! Honey, look at me, I'm finally using the internet!

    • Liz: Now, did you take a look at the chore wheel? Because you're in charge of emptying the ant traps and organizing the CD tower.
Karen: Wow. How did I go my whole life without learning any of those words?

    • Karen: Oh Yeah? Well, out of all the bars I've ever been kicked out of… that one had the best onion blossom!

    • Karen: I love errands. They're like mini adventures for the undesirables.

    • Karen: This blows! If I wanted to spend Saturday handling heavy sacks, I would have stayed married to Stanley.

    • Liz: You're gonna get me into SO much trouble!
      Karen: If you're lucky!
      Liz: You're crazy!
      Karen: Like a fox!
      Liz: I doubt it!
      Karen: You wish!
      Liz: Don't I ever?
      Karen: You and what army?

    • Grace: Maybe you should move your glass off the coffee table.
(they hear Will at the door)
Grace: Oh, my God! Pick up the glass! Wipe down the ring!
Jack: You're right! First he sees the ring, and then we die!

    • Will: I love Paula Abdul. I love that we live in a world that would give Paula Abdul a second chance.

  • Notes

    • Upon its original airing, this was a 40-minute "super size" episode that began at 9:05 p.m. E.S.T. Some scenes are cut in the syndicated version of the episode.

    • Song: 'Hot in Herre' by Nelly is playing when Liz and Karen are at the bar.

    • This episode was filmed on Tuesday, March 18, 2003, the day the U.S. went to Iraq and had its first live telecast coverage of the war.

    • Total viewers for this episode reached 17.7 million.

  • Allusions

    • Grace: Wow, okay what's happening on your feet?
      Will: What?
Jack: I think she's talking about your shoes, Heidi.

This is a reference to the book/movie Heidi, about a young orphan girl in Switzerland.

    • Jack: You said they were casting for a sitcom called 'A Gay Guy, Two Hags and a Laundrymat'.

This is a reference to the 1998 sitcom Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place.

    • Grace: You have got to get off, got to get off this merry go round.

Another allusion to the film Valley of the Dolls, as this is a line from the theme song to the film, written by Andre Previn and his then wife Dory Previn.

    • Grace: (holding up Will's painkillers) Looking for these, Miss Taylor?

This is referring to reports of Elizabeth Taylor's previous addictions to painkilling drugs as a result of her lifelong battles with back pain from the time she was a young woman. She has apparently broken her back five times.

    • Will: I have pain!
Jack: Effie we all got pain!

A clear and funny reference to the 1981 musical Dreamgirls. "Effie we all got pain" is a line from the song "It's All Over". In the season 3 episode "Lows In The Mid-Eighties" Jack points out that Will's 'well-worn copy of the Dreamgirls soundtrack' suggests that he is gay.

    • Jack: You're right! First he sees the Ring, and then we die!
A reference to the 2002 film The Ring starring Naomi Watts.

    • Episode Title: Dolls and Dolls

This is a clear reference to the 1955 musical comedy Guys and Dolls, starring Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, and Frank Sinatra. It is also to the book and film Valley of the Dolls, in which the word 'Dolls' means drugs. Given Will's addiction in this episode, it seems quite fitting.
