    Its been a while since someone has left a comment on this but I have a question.


    In one of the season 3 episodes, the first time Patrick Dempsey guest stars, Jack has a Crush on him and Will asks Jack how he knows he's gay and Jack says 'he beeped'. Can't for the life of me understand it

    I don't have the episode in front of me, but if I were to guess I think Jack was being sarcastic about saying he beeped in that he doesn't care if Dempsey is gay or not, he's cute and he'll pursue him.

    I think it's Jack's gay radar or "gaydar." that was talked about in the early episode "yours, mine, or ours." so basically, he "beeped" on jack's "gaydar," and thats how Jack knew he was gay.


    I have one I don't get:


    In "grace 0, jack 2000" grace and karen are talking about ben in the back of a cab. Will says to the driver "it's amazing how one little cardboard tree can make so little difference," or something like that. What does that mean?

    Yeah I also didn't get that one about the "little cardboard tree" that makes so little difference - i was thinking that it might be an air freshener that could be hanging in the front of the car.

    One I also don't get is in season 4, episode 15 at Grace's ex, Danny's, wedding - she says: "I do remember our first Valentine's Day. He gave me the greatest gift, and it only took six to eight weeks to get rid of it" - what does that mean?

    I assumed Grace was talking about an STD but I could be wrong.

    Re: little cardboard tree - yes, air freshener. he is saying the inside of the cab smells terrible without directly insulting the driver.

    Re: Karen seeing red light and "old habits die hard" - yes, red light district. Prostitutes put up red lights in red light neighbourhoods of some cities where prostitution is legal. So when she said "old habits die hard", she meant she fell into the habit of soliciting sex for money.

    Re: great gift, 6 to 8 weeks to get rid of it - yes, she was referring to a sexually transmitted infection.
