  • The only episode I really hated.

Many of the jokes are re-hashed or lame, to say the least. I even found some of the bits offensive, lame and insulting. That type of material, or the absence of it, was what always made this series better than the rest - they never settled for the cheap laugh. I was surprised this episode aired in mid-season - it seems more like the dregs. It's almost as if they patched it together with jokes and gags recovered from the waste basket in the writer's room. Jason Biggs couldn't be less interesting, although he certainly didn't have good material to work with. The other performances are also simply not up to the high standards we came to expect from this sassy, high-kicking series.moreless
  • Not much is happening ...

Well, I'm really disappointed watching this eighth season ... nothing's really happening ! First, you have that crap, about Stan being still alive, and Karen back to him ... did we really need that ?

Then, nothing's really happening to Grace who is my favourite character. You get the impression that everything's going on around her and she's just a spectator of everybody else's life ... I can't stand it anymore !

As for the show in general, I'm getting bored ... I don't find it as funny as it used to be and I think writers really lack inspiration ...

I really hope it's gonna get better !moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • When Will is listing the Caberet acts put on by Jack McFarland, he forgets "Jack 2000" (Season 3) and "Jack Magic" (Season 4).

    • The same injury that limited Megan's performance at the Emmy Awards and the live season premier, "Alive and Schticking," kept her immobile for this episode as well, which was filmed after the Emmys (September 18th) and shortly before the live premier (September 29th). If you watch carefully, you will see that she's sitting down during all of her scenes at Grace Adler Designs and Will's Autumn Carnival. Of the injury Megan said, "I rehearsed with Donald Trump the day before yesterday and then we went home and we had the TV on. There was a stupid commercial with silly music and I was sort of cavorting. I was doing silly dancing and I went up in the air, came down and couldn't walk. I think I tore a muscle in my calf, apparently, so we'll see..."

    • It's revealed that Malcolm's real name is Rene.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Karen: Malcolm?
      Malcolm: Yes?
      Karen: Sailboats and sunsets?
Malcolm: Sailboats and sunsets, baby. (he leaves)
Grace: So romantic. What did that mean?
Karen: It's too complicated to explain...he nailed me on a Windjammer at 6:17pm.

    • Will: I want to start the bidding at $100. Anybody? $100?
Jack: They know the underpants come off, right?
Will: Folks, dinner with Jack McFarland? $100? The meal itself is worth 200, so you're gonna come out ok on this one...

    • Jack: Just when I thought I was famous, it got ripped away. I feel like Teri Hatcher six years ago. (long pause) And Teri Hatcher six years from now.

    • Grace: You know what always makes me feel better?
      Karen: What's that?
      Grace: Funnel cake.
Karen: Honey, can I have some?
Grace: Yeah, the stand's right over there.

  • NOTES (1)

    • Jack: How do I feel about the war in Azkaban?

Jack mistakes the war in Afghanistan with the 2004 movie Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban.

    • Karen: Malcolm lives for a good carnival. The whole gang knows that.
      Grace: What gang?
Karen: You, me, Will, Jack, Kenickie, Frenchy, Putzie. The gang.
