Venus Williams: (after beating Stefanie Voegele) It was great to be out here and come back as champion. This is the best place to be as a professional tennis player, I enjoy every blade of it. I want to make the crown mine again.
Ernests Gulbis: (On facing Andy Murray) The crowd in Wimbledon, actually they're pretty fair. They will cheer more for him. But you know, they will not disturb my game somehow. For me it doesn't matter if somebody is for my opponent. Like I played once in Macedonia, they were like showing fingers and laughing like that.
Marat Safin: (on how he feels after his last Wimbledon) Relieved. Pretty much relieved. It wasn't my day today. It wasn't the way to finish my Wimbledon story. But anyway, that's it.
Elena Baltacha: (Talks about her 2nd round opponent) I'd say Coetzer was ranked 32 or the 32nd seed but at that time she was on her way out her age and pretty much retired that year or the next.
Elena Baltacha: (On her 1st round win) I really tried hard to control my emotions and with everyone getting up and clapping I had goose pimples everywhere and the hair on the back of my neck was standing up. I also kept thinking I am going to win this no way I am going to lose it but when I did come through I couldn't believe it.
Andy Murray: (On his victory against Robert Kendrick) It was a tough match, you know, I expected it to be difficult. He served great for two-and-a-half, three sets and he made it very difficult for me. He played very aggressive and served a very high percentage of first serves, and I didn't return as well as I would have liked, but I was happy with the way that I served throughout.
Andy Murray: (On the state of British Tennis) It's disappointing. The depth needs to get way better. It's not acceptable. But regardless of whether there are 10 Brits in or just one I'm still going to take care of my own business.
Venus Williams is the defending women's singles champion and starts her campaign today
