Day 8 Statistics
Fastest Serve: Serena Williams (USA), Sabine Lisicki (GER) at 123mph
Longest Match: Dinara Safina (RUS) v Sabine Lisicki (GER) 2hrs 28mins
Shortest Match: Elena Dementieva (RUS) v Francesca Schiavone (ITA) 1hr 6mins
Elena Dementieva: (On her victory over Francesca Schiavone) It was a tough match despite the score. The weather conditions were tough today so I'm glad to go through. I was trying to play very aggressive and make it as quick as possible because it is very hot out there.
Victoria Azarenka: (On losing out to Serena Williams) She was striking the ball so hard and so good. She didn't give me many opportunities, you know. She really showed the unbeatable Serena today, I guess.
Serena Williams: (On beating Victoria Azarenka) I think I could still serve a little better and return a little better and just stay in the match the whole way. Hopefully I'll be able to do that within the next match, and hopefully a match after that.
Agnieszka Radwanska: (Losing out to Venus Williams) She was serving and hitting the ball so strongly. Her game is so powerful, it was very hard to do anything on the court. It's so hard to break her when she's serving at 120mph. Venus and Serena are so different to other opponents.
Venus Williams: Do I feel invincible? I'd like to say yes, but I really do work at it.
Sabine Lisicki: (Losing out to Dinara Safina in quarters) I just went out there to fight. I gave it all I had, but she was physically fitter than me.
Dinara Safina: (After beating Sabine Lisicki) I think I was Santa Claus serving so many double faults. On the practice court I don't serve a single one. The serve is there, I just have to put the brain there. I know what I have to do, I'm just not doing it. I was hanging in there. I was tough mentally, I think that was the key.
