Episode Summary

EDIT
Joe and Brian are divided over their new-found inheritance: Joe wants to expand the business, and Brian wants the money to leave Nantucket and the tedium of his job. Joe's agony over the dissolving of the partnership is further complicated when he learns of Helen's earth shaking news: she's been invited to study cello in Vienna with the world's greatest cellist. Joe is prepared to sacrifice Sandpiper to help Helen finally live her dream. But it is Brian who makes the final sacrifice, by postponing his and Casey's move to the Carribean, in order to run Sandpiper for one year while Joe and Helen are away in Vienna.moreless

This was a great series finale. Brian and Joe and gang go on chase to find money. They are rich. Helen gets to go to another country for music. Brian wants to go to islands, but stays to run Sandpiper so Joe will not lose airline to Roy. Joe was willing to sell airline to let Helen have her dream. Antonio was as great as always. Casey thought she was going with Brian, and was rude to people, and had to stay. I love the series, and this finale was awesome and a great way to say goodbye and I loved it.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • If you watch the first episode of the series when they first get the suitcase out of the locker (and their dad leads them on a wild goose chase) and the last episode of the series when they retrieve the suitcase full of money with the key that was found in the suitcase full of keys, it's the same locker. Wouldn't they have noticed the second suitcase full of money when they opened it the first time on the very first episode?

  • QUOTES (0)

  • NOTES (5)

    • The day turned out emotional in more ways than one for Rebecca Schull. Her husband Gene suffered a broken rib in an accident on the way to the filming.

    • The episode was sprinkled with cameos by almost all the writers and producers, including Angell, Casey and Lee, Dave Hackel, Jeff Richman and Joyce Gittlin, Ken Levine and David Isaacs, and even the director, Jeff Melman. Mark Reisman, Howard Gewirtz, Ian Gurvitz and Chris Vane also grouped together.

    • The chalk board over Helen's counter reads, "Final boarding, #172, Today's special: Cooked Goose."

    • Joe and Helen don't share a farewell scene with Roy because the writers believed that he was still considered "the villain." The cast members complained but the writers refused to give in.

    • 2nd part of the Hour-Long Series Finale.
