Alfea celebrates the new school year when the party is interrupted the the Trix. The Winx stop them, but not before they steal a powerful object. Meanwhile, Bloom is on Sparx, experiencing the best moments of her new princess life. However, the Ancestral Witches come back to haunt the Winx fairies. Then Erendor, Sky's father, forbids his son to marry her because of a dark secret. With the help of the Trix, the Ancestresses are able to find the Tree of Life. With an unusually strong and powerful spell, they break this balance and suck all the good energy from Magix. The Winx find themselves powerless and forced again to confront the Trix.

Athena, Discorda, Ninfea, and Concorda, the Pixie Elders, are also there so they follow the Winx Club. However monsters attack them so Layla and Stella head for Realix first, then the others. Icy, Darcy and Stormy use their powers to combine and turn into MegaTrix and they take on Darkar. Bloom is about to summon the ultimate power, but Sky says words from his heart, saying that he loves Bloom. She is able to fight back the darkness, and come back to normal, leaving the power in Realix. The new school year begins at Alfea, but in a evil realm called the Under-Realm, in a place calles ShadowHuant, a group of pixies: Amore, Blinky, Chatta, Digit, Lockette, Piff, Tune and Zing, are trapped in the dungeon of ShawdowHuant located in a cell that is taking all of their powers. Their best friend, Layla, a fairy princess from the Realm of Tides, goes to the Under-Realm to try and save her best friends, while she must also fight for her life in the Palace of ShadowHuant. They get out safely, but Griselda and Faragonda notice what they've done, and take the girls' powers away as punisment.

The specialists and fairies team up to find the troll, but the witches beat them to it and make the troll disappear to Limbo forever. With no sign of the troll, the specialists head back to Red Fountain and the girls return to their class. A hunter troll comes and attacks them all, the boys and the girls manage to fight him off.
