  • Will thinks Mr. Collins is the beast.

I speak for all of us when I say, we call know that Mr. Collins is not Cedric. I mean hello! We all saw Cedric's human face in episode one and we all know where this was going. Although you can't blame Will because in episode two she didn't see Cedric's human face, so it was an easy mistake to make. But you got to admit it, that episode was funny. I thought Mr. Collins deserved getting beated up by W.I.T.C.H. after making community service day a month early. He's such a dork. He could've at least asked the students to make it a month early. What ever happened to democracy? He has no clue at all. And the worst part is...he's seeing Will's mom! Gross!moreless
  • According to Will, the Meridianite monster is a Earth-history buff?

    PROS

    - Great introduction to Dean Collins and more character development for Susan Vandom

    - The Infinite City looks really awesome and the Mage is a neat creation

    - The plot for finding Phobos' sister heats up with Cedric disguising himself as a bookstore owner

    - The part of this episode dealing with Dean Collins being the beast was hilarious

    - Good comic relief with Lilian Hale and her classmates

    - Caleb saying if the Meridianite monster was disguised as a history teacher then he would need to know a lot of Earth history showed that the writers actually have brains

    CONS

    - Not enough action, there wasn't a real battle going on here

    - The title was called A Service to the Community, but only the first third of episode focused on thatmoreless
  • A very funny episode!!! (and I meant "silly" in that way...)

There's a new history teacher in Sheffield Institute: professor Dean Collins. He looked like a nice guy to everyone when they saw him, BUT, it all turned to hatred in a matter of seconds. What he had in mind was to hold Community Service Day a month early, just because he heard everyone was coming to school early when that day came. So now, everyone had to come to school really early to get their assignments for the day. Will and Hay Lin got a job to paint over graffitis, Irma and Taranee got a job to seal envelops at City Hall, but Cornelia got to babysit a group of behavior-issued children, a group in which Cornelia's sister, Lilian was. And all that just because the same sister shut off her alarm clock... While Will and Hay Lin were doing their job, Hay Lin found weird graffiti insciption that made Will faint. Later, when Caleb took a look at the inscription, he suggested they should all visit the Mage, a person with incredible power and knowledge, and ask her about this. So when they did, the Mage translated the inscription: "You are still undetected. Begin your search for the girl." She also said that this is the writing of the beasts, and that one of them is in Heatherfield, in human form, so Will assumed it was professor Collins, and there their false hunt for him began...moreless

  • great...

    7.1
this was a great episode IMO, what i liked about it was that Will feels dizzy and faints when she's near meridian writing (like in the comics...in a way) and that this was the first episode in which the Mage appeared in, she would appear in about 2 other episodes and in season number two.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • It is revealed that in the previous year, Irma had to work in a sewer (which has water in it) and Cornelia had to work at the monkey cages (which have trees and plants, which relate to earth).

    • Goof: When Hay Lin states what job Martin got, his hair is brown instead of orange.

    • Goof: If you check before and after the flashback to last year's "community service day" the girls are wearing different outfits after the flashback than they were before it.

    • Goof: When Taranee looks in at the lizard in the tank at Mr. Collins' place, the lizard is the size of a salamander, but a few minutes later when the lizard is out of the tank on the chair Mr. Collins is sitting in, the lizard is the size of an iguana.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Will (About Professor Collins): Okay, we lock the door, fly out the window, have his car towed, and tomorrow we'll put the papers in his desk. He'll think he dreamed it!
      Taranee: What about his clothes?
Cornelia: Sprinkle him with crickets and release the lizard so he thinks Mr. Scales ripped them up?
Will: Ugh, that's crazy! Do it.

    • Irma (to the girls): If anyone tells Caleb he was right about this, she is out of the group!

    • Caleb (to the girls): Hey, you're only supposed to transform for emergencies.
Irma: Well, what do you call pushing a wet unconscious man up a hill in a wheelbarrow at midnight?! (accidentally pushes Mr. Collins off the wheelbarrow) Sorry.
Caleb: Unnecessary if you'd listened to me?

    • Irma: Wow, Mrs. Carraldo has a swimming pool.
Hay Lin: Oh look, he's dreaming he's swimming!
Caleb: Gee, now he's wet maybe his glued-on face will come off easier.

    • Hay Lin: Live crickets! Like, two pounds of them.
Taranee: That's way too much for fishing.
Irma: But not too much... to eat!
      All Girls: Eww!
Will: No wonder he liked my mom's cooking!

    • Cornelia (to Caleb): More stairs? Don't you have, like, some kind of ancient stone escalator?

    • Will: I don't want to judge somebody before all the evidence is in, but it's obvious that Collins is a face gluing, bug eating, brain sucker!

    • (Referring to the papers that Taranee just picked up)
Cornelia: What is it, 'Being Evil for Dummies'?
Taranee: It's information on the Sheffield PTA.
      Cornelia: Phobos joined the PTA?

  • NOTES (1)

  • ALLUSIONS (3)

    • Irma: Whoa! Do you know what David Copperfield would pay for this?
David Copperfield was born in 1956 and is a magician renowned for his spectacular illusions. His most famous feats include making the Statue of Liberty disappear, levitating over the Grand Canyon, and walking through the Great Wall of China.

    • Unconscious Man Dancing: Weekend at Bernie's.
The scene where the girls have to support an unconscious Professor Collins and make him dance for the benefit of an elderly neighbor is reminiscent of the 1989 film, Weekend at Bernie's, in which two co-workers find their boss shot and are forced to treat the body as a puppet and make people believe he is still alive in order to avoid becoming murder suspects.

    • Cornelia: What is it, Being Evil for Dummies?
This is a joke about the popular line of self help books that contain For Dummies in each book title. The For Dummies series of books can be found on almost every topic.
