  • The sixth season begins with Jack and the team investigating the kidnapping of an African boy adopted by a famous couple and Agent Vivian Johnson continuing her investigation into a case that began in the season five finale.moreless

CBS wisely moved Without a Trace back to its original Thurday night timeslot which is a good way to start the new season. What I also like is how the case Agent Johnson is looking into did not neatly wrap itself up too fast (A problem that is effecting CSI: Miami.) and will continue as a multi-episode story arc. The very clever writing style of Without a Trace is still very much intact here which is all well and good. The cast and writing are still top notch. I'll say season six defintely got started off on the right foot.moreless

This episode twists and turns as the suspects continue to change. The sixth season pilot begins with a touching scene of Jack sending his daughter off to school on the first day. Contrast this with out ultimate antagonist, a bitter middle aged suburbanite not content with the simple pleasures of family life who succumbs to class jealously at its worst. Also of note, the title song "Mad World." One of the best tracks ever employed by Without a Trace, its lyrics illustrate the find line between civilization and Hobbbsian state of nature, which emerges when ordinary people decide to commit unspeakable crimes.moreless

It was pointed out to me by the editor of this shows board that WAT has been doing a lot of ripped from the headlines stories. It's a shame if that's the case since this one was quite uninteresting except for the second story. Which was about perverts from last season who kidnap and make sex slaves out of young girls. As for the first part of the story a typical star adoptions story not much else. With twist and turns invented to bring in characters that bring attention to the plight of Darfur. Nothing that hasn't been done on other shows as of recently. The second case of the missing girls is really starting to heat up after last seasons finale. A prison was found where girls were held but sadly the bad guys and the girls were gone. A real weak beginning to the new season but it's early so it's possible for things to get back to what we're used to.moreless
  • good episode...

    8.4
The team investigates the disappearance of a four-year old boy that was adopted by celebrity parents. The boy was from Sudan and spent a lot of time in teh cultural center. It turned out that a Sudan man kidnapped the boy for a ransome and another young man from Sudan killed him, self-defense, and took the boy to safety. I liked the story of this episode. The flashbacks the young man had were interesting. Overall, good story, but other than that, it was lacking. The character ensemble for this show just doesn't cut it for me. I hope they can really bring good characters out this season.moreless
  • Glad that it's back on Thursdays again!

    8.8
I am glad that Without a Trace is back on Thursday nights as it was orginally had been. Until last year, it was on Sundays in which kind of confused a lot of people. As they must had missed the show being back on Thursdays. The case involves an adopted four-year old who is kidnapped from his crib. As everybody is a suspect. Including the celeb parents. But when the people that are trying to kidnap him happen to want to return him to his own Sudan land. Kind of confusing at first as it ended last year with a young woman being kidnapped. But good show nonetheless. Like James Marsters in the show and hope that he will come onn for more.moreless
