  • An emotional dark turn with a twist …

This was a great episode. In fact, there's been a string of them lately. As usual, I loved the brief appearance by Lucy (Adriana DeMeo), Jack's daughter, she so has him so wrapped around her little finger. But, as good as everyone was, including Vivian (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) and the guy who went missing, Zack (Jordan Bridges), Martin (Eric Close) was the star this time out - and it's about time. We haven't seen much of Martin lately. While his fight to the death with the professional killer was the action highlight of the show, his heartfelt trauma afterwards was palpable. He was so cute and vulnerable when he went to see the female "victim", Kim Marcus (Vanessa Marcil) - after stewing over a few drinks. It appeared that the writers were finally going to give Martin something to smile about when she invited him in for "coffee" at the end. I suppose that hope was why the surprising "afterword" was such a kick in the stomach. For it now appears that Martin has been smitten by a lying, manipulative co-conspirator - and that can only lead to heartbreak.moreless
  • Martin gets involved with a juror in a court case that is the main focus of the episode, since the missing person the team is investigating was working in the court case picking jurors. In the meantime Jack learns to juggle the tasks in his personal life.moreless

Another amazing episode this week, though the storyline with Jack and Samantha is a premonition to the ending of the series with this season. Everything is heading towards closure in their relationship, as they have already accepted eachother as part of their lives and Jack is fully committed to making all the right moves. He is willing to talk to his daughter about Samantha and include Samantha in her life, while at the same time he is making an effort to get to know Brian and get along with him. One already has the feeling everything will be alright with these two.

The case the team is working on concerns an employee in a jury-picking firm, who goes missing after getting emotionally involved in a case with a mobster. He learns the mobster has not been convicted for the brutal murder of a girl, and intervenes with the DA so that he will get arrested. The mob doesn't like that and sends a hired killer after him. Martin gets emotionally involved in his turn, when he rescues one of the jurors from the same hired killer. She seems very responsive and for a minute there it looks as Martin might have finally found love, until it is revealed in the end that the girl is in fact working for the mob, and is in league with the hired killer.

A very esciting episode with more screen time for Martin, which I liked because we had missed Martin! I didn't trust the girl from the beginning, I thought her behaviour was a little too staged to be sincere. Loved the scene where Martin chokes the killer, as well as the scene with Jack and Brian. Brian seems like a decent guy and these two are probably able to get along just fine. Though I wonder what will happen to Martin in the end, being vulnerable and sad from killing someone, and trusting his feelings to Kim, only to find out in the end she's been playing him all along. We'll have to wait and see for that one. I hope it all ends well for Martin.moreless

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Potential goof: When Elena holds up her iPhone to show Martin the message she just received saying that NYPD just spotted Adam Miller's car, what's on the screen looks nothing like the iPhone text message app. It does however look very much like the iPhone Notes app.

  • QUOTES (1)

    • (Jack and Brian, looking uncomfortable, standing together over Sam's baby)
Jack: Would you say this is...um...more or less awkward than the last time that we met?
      Brian: I'd say...ah...more?
      Jack: huh...
Brian: Look, I just want to spend time with Finn.
Jack: Hey, it's your baby, that's understandable.
(They both continue to look down at the baby)
Brian: You watch college basketball at all? (Jack shakes his head)
Jack: You watch soccer? (Brian shakes his head)
(Jack and Brian continue to stare down at the baby)
