Without Motive is a six-part British drama series that stars Ross Kemp as detective Chief Jack Mowbray. When detective Mowbray's city is terrorized by a serial killer, Mowbray fights to track down the killer before he can murder again. As the killers continue to ellude the police and detectives, Mowbray's boss, DCS Henderson (Kenneth Cranham) criticizes Mowbray for his bad work and even blames him for the murders. Not only must Mowbray deal with his unhappy boss, but also his personal life that has been going down hill since the serial killers first struck. The series follows the detective as he solves clues to track down the killers and tries to fit the pieces of his broken personal life back together while keeping his job and the city safe from criminals. The series was first aired on January 1, 2000 and was aired until November 5, 2000. It is directed by James Hawes and Tristram Powell.
